Trans Futures Micro Grant

Trans Futures Micro Grant

The Center for Trans Futures provides microgrants for trans adults in the Richmond area.

These grants are intended to support immediate everyday needs identified by recipients themselves. This may include food, transportation, medications, utilities, housing expenses, phone bills, gender-affirming care costs, or other urgent needs related to survival and stability.

We recognize that many systems place unnecessary barriers between people and care. This program is intentionally designed to be low-barrier and rooted in trust.

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  1. Trans, nonbinary, or gender nonconforming
  2. Age 25 or older
  3. Living within 20 miles of the Richmond metropolitan area

Applications are brief and do not require extensive documentation or public disclosure of personal hardship.

No recipient will be asked to provide testimonials, photographs, or public gratitude in exchange for support.

APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED. PLEASE CHECK BACK IN THE FALL!

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed for basic eligibility. If more than five eligible applications are received, recipients will be selected by lottery.

This approach helps us avoid creating hierarchies of suffering that require people to perform crisis in order to access care.

Small financial assistance cannot solve structural inequity, but we hope to offer some breathing room during moments of immediate need for our community.

The Center for Trans Futures believes trans people deserve material support, dignity, and the ability to define their own needs.

Support the Fund

During our first grant cycle in June 2026, we were able to offer seven (7) grants to support folks in our community.

Please help us continue to offer material support to our trans family in and around Richmond by donating to The Center.
